With this volume conversion tool, you will be able to simultaneously convert between multiple volume units with minimum effort!

Within this short text, you will learn:

  • How to use our volume converter;
  • How to convert between volume units using the volume conversion chart;
  • How many cups are in a quart;
  • How many cups are in a gallon; and
  • More about converting volume units!

How to use our volume converter

Our volume conversion tool is straightforward:

  1. Just pick an empty field and select the unit you wish to input from the dropdown.
  2. After you input any volume using that unit, this tool will automatically fill all other fields with the appropriate conversion.

If you want to change any of the default units, you can click on the unit dropdown list and change your selection from there.

This is the list of all the volume units available in our tool:

  • cubic millimeters (mm³);
  • cubic centimeters (cm³);
  • cubic decimeters (dm³);
  • cubic meters (m³);
  • cubic inches (cu in);
  • cubic feet (cu ft);
  • cubic yards (cu yd);
  • milliliters (ml);
  • liters (l);
  • gallons (US) / gallons (UK) (gal);
  • quarts (US) / quarts (UK) (qt);
  • pints (US) / pints (UK) (pt);
  • fluid ounces (US) / fluid ounces (UK) (fl oz);
  • US customary cups/glasses (236.59ml) (cups);
  • tablespoons (15ml) (tablespoons); and
  • teaspoons (5ml) (teaspoons);

How many cups are in a quart? How many cups in a gallon?

Quarts and cups are both US customary system volume units.

A quart is exactly ¹/₄ gallon. That way, one US quart equals ¹/₄th of a US gallon, and one UK quart equals ¹/₄th of a UK gallon.

A cup is defined as half a pint or ⅛ gallon.

Now that we know the proportion between both units (cups and quarts), we can find how many cups are in a quart.

Since a quart is ¹/₄th of a gallon and a cup is ¹/₁₆th of a gallon, we can conclude that a cup is ¹/₄th of a quart. Therefore, we can fit 4 cups in a quart.

Using the same logic, we can also conclude that, since a cup is ¹/₁₆th of a gallon, 16 cups are equal to a gallon.
